On another forum a hog hunting guide was talking about a gen 2+ demo scope he got from Luna Optics, he said there was not much difference between it and his gen 3 stuff. Looks to me to be a lower priced scope. A search here turned up nothing under "luna". I am sure it has been talked about on here before.
Any user feedback on Luna Optics? It was a new name to me. What type reputation do they have? http://www.lunaoptics.com/riflescopespage.html |

Sounds like he's trying to sell Luna Scopes. While the "Russian gen 2+" stuff looks ok,(for what it is)
it is nowhere near the performance of real US Gen 3. I would look thru Gen2 and Gen3 units to see the difference for yourself. I personally have no experience with the Luna Scopes, but they look a lot like the Yukon stuff... What are you planning to spend? What kind of hunting and rifle set up? Edit: I went back and checked out the Scope again, not Yukon. |

I bought a set of Luna Optics Gen1 goggles/binoculars a couple years ago at a gun show (good deal). I was surprised at the performance of these things. Other than the built-in IR illuminator being a little weak, they work surprisingly well for Gen1. Optics are clear, tubes are pretty clean, and it's light and built well. I actually keep 'em by my front door for that unexpected outdoor "bump in the night", when it's not worth grabbing the Gen3 stuff.
Can't comment on the scope you're looking at, but it appears that Luna makes decent stuff, and doesn't try to cram junk down your throat like ATN. |

He is not a dealer or in the NV selling business. I am not in the market to buy. It was just a name I had not heard of before and was curious. Noted. I wonder, if the tube is the one of the Photonis SHP tubes, and not Russian. BTW, Luna make great "accessories" |

Luna actually do not produce anything, all I can see on their website are rebagged and relabeled Dipol products from Belarus.
The same Dipol company who make the rather famous D300 monocular. Although I don't see Luna offering the D300, they seem to have it replaced by the D126-Pro type (LN-EMG1-PRO) I would be VERY surprised if Luna Optics used DEP-Photonis tubes. I think they simply resort to Russian tubes by EKRAN or MELZ-EVP. Especially the Russian shorty 22.1mm tubes for goggles don't even have a direct DEP drop-in replacement. Equivalent names: Luna LN-EMG1 - Dipol D126 Luna LN-EMG1-PRO - Dipol D126H-Pro Luna LN-PBG1 - Dipol D2MV Luna LN-EBG1 - Dipol D206 Luna LN-EBG1-PRO - Dipol D209 Luna LN-PRS40 - Dipol D141M Luna LN-ERS40M - Dipol D741 |
