I know that this is not the best set up but I am just starting to get into night vision and I can not spend $1000 plus on a night vision optic. I will be using this for going to and from my deer stand. I will not hunt with it because it is illegal and you can not hunt before or after day light. I will also be using this around the house and yard just for fun . I am looking at the Yukon NVMT 4 and the D-112. They are both gen 1s so I know that they will not be the best but I am wanting to start off small and then work my way up when the funds are available.

Thanks

I know the parameters you set...but for just a little bit more than $1000 you could get a Gen II and have a MASSIVE increase in capability.

I'm sorry; what's your question? Is it which is better?

That is my main question for now. The more I look I am liking the D-300. It cost more so I will either have to sell something or save up for a while but I do like the other options that it has.

I have a D-300. It's fantastic. You wouldn't regret buying one..whereas a gen I would likely just leave you wanting more.

I may look into this rout the more that I think about the different options I can run with this. I can run this on my rifle as well.

Take your time and carefully examine each option. Then lets talk about your conclusions here. Folks here will give you some great advice as they learn what your needs/wants are.

I am not going to rush this at all. I am still doing plenty of research on the different types. It will be a while before I make a final decision on one.

I really don't won't to see you waste your money on a gen 1 device.  They really aren't worth the money for their performance.  There is a large price increase to a gen II unit, but the performance is way better to say the least compared to gen I.  I would recommend a flashlight with a red lens or something of that sort before wasting the money on a gen I device.  Your going to hear alot of similiar comments due to the fact just about everybody here has either owned or looked threw gen I.
