I've considered a NV scope for hog hunting and just thought of a possible negative. Get in your stand before dark and a hog shows in the daylight! You can't turn on the NV, correct? Hope he waits around until it's dark? Am I missing something? Thanks. Jeff Edited: I wasn't clear at first that it would be a rifle mounted scope |

Be aware while you can use the method with the day cover on, you will only be able to focus the NOD on the day cover. If the hog is out at 100 yards or so, you may have a hard time seeing him being out of focus. Other option, get a Pinnacle autgated NOD! Vic |
Here's what I do: Simply zero your eotech during the day. Shoot anything you see in the daylight hours withe the Eotech. Then, if one shows up after dark, simply pop on the PVS-14 behind it., and you are ready...noting to re-zero and if you can't use the laser, this will suffice nicely. I shoot alot of hogs right as the sun is going down. |
