So I was stocking up on Fed Bulk at China-mart and saw this for $100 bucks.  I know it is not weapon mounted or anything great but as an entry level toy, is it good deal?

First time in this forum, but I know the one your talking about.  I just picked it up at Walmart for $100.00 clearanced.  It works good for me.

on a bright moonlit night, you'll be able to see better without it.

to simulate the effects of this scope for nearly free, go buy a mountain dew, drink it, then look through the bottle.

Not true.  Just because it didn't cost $3,000 you dismiss it as junk.  I have used the more expensive night vison sets both in the field and while driving a humvee.  This isn't a bad unit for the price, just gen 1.  Me and some other guys in my platoon were playing around with it just an hour ago here at Camp Perry.  It serves its purpose and I will take it hunting with me next month after I get off orders.
