This is a work related queston.

We're doing some testing and thought a NVG type device is needed.

The specs of what we need to work with.

Something available overseas (though it will be purchases here in the US).
Must be a light intensifying type device.
Active IR must not be needed for the device to work.
Cost less than $500600 to include shipping
We need it by Friday.
Weapon mountable would be a big plus
Weight is not an issue.
Optics quality IS NOT an issue, but the newer the device (i.e. Gen 2 vs Gen1 ) the newer is preffered.
We can provide a tax-exempt certificate if tax is applicable.
Digital/CCD type (i.e. Bushnell) IS NOT going to work at all.

We need this fast; a big thank you for any who can help point me in the right direction.

ETA: Budget for this was slightly updated, not that I think it will matter much.

No ideas anyone?  Glass need not be intact (i.e. if anyone knows of someone that has some electronically sound devices with bad glass we would be interested).  Device will need to run for the next month or so.

You don`t want much do you? you will not get what you want for under $1200.00. The exportable part is the tricky thing, looks like you only have a gen 1 system in your price range. what do you need it for, what job does it need to do?

Thanks for the reply.  Yeah it's a strange set of requirements.

I never said we were going to export it, I said I'm looking for a device that is available in this country, that someone could aquire outside the US.  I'm thinking possibly Russian or Chi-Com (do other countries make NVG?), or used older US Mil stuff.

What job it's intended for is irrelevant, as long as it doesn't die during the time period it will be good-to-go.

What??? you will have to purchase it outside of the USA to avoid exporting the unit, you will not find ANY gen II or better NV systems for $500.00 or less outside of the USA, the D-300 MS gen II+ scope is exportable to Europe, but the cheapest you will get one is $1200.00, you are asking a lot with a $500.00 price limit and three days to find it, every NV enthusiast in Europe would jump at the chance to buy a Gen II scope for $500.00 US.
Outside of the USA, Russian gen II+ starts at  $1500.00 JUST FOR THE TUBE!! no lenses or housing included, you might find a low performance tube for $1200.00 if you are lucky. You could always buy something used on Ebay (good luck for $500) and illegally export it and risk getting a $15,000.00 fine and a prison sentence in a Federal prison. (not recommended)

I don't think you're getting my point.

This will NOT be exported.  If I wanted to that it would be easy to do we have a whole department of lawyers here that handles that kind of issue.

What I'm looking to do is RIGHT NOW buy a unit here in the US for our short term use here in the US.  If we are successful in our intentions odds are we'll get funding for more expensive options.

This unit would have to be somewhat representative of a US/Russian/ etc unit that someone in a say a 3rd world contry could get ahold of by hook or crook or blackmarket...

ETA:
In other words
Are there NVGs for sale in the US that are former Chicom-Russian/Soviet-or US military, perhaps damaged so they are unusable to most but still turn on?

Are there Civilian units (like ATN for example) that have NVGs that use imported tubes that are the same (ore exreamly similar) to that countries military?

If someone can answer these questions and/or point me to a place where I can get the answers (or the devices) it would be very much appreciated (except by those that would harm our people).

Thanks.

It sounds like your best bet is to buy a Gen 1 system (terrible resolution)or a Gen 2+ (imported Israeli tube-former US surplus)  D-300 Mil-Spec WITH a data sheet as these can be exported. There is not anything cheaper out there that has any decent resolution you seem to need.

That is a better explanation, I have exactly what you are looking for, a modern (1998 manufactured) gen II+ Russian military NV scope that is malfunctioning, the unit comes on and lights up bright green in the eyepiece, but is so noisy (static) that the image is not clear when looking through it, all the lenses are intact and the unit appears new. IM me,  I can put it in the Equipment Exchange immediately.
