Date sent until date received. "Approved date" didn't mean much we then they take 4-5 weeks to mail you your stamp.

Ah, youth! I remember dancing from foot to foot, waiting eagerly for christmas morning, or something to arrive in the mail.

I just file it now, and forget about it, so when it comes in, I'm pleasantly surprised.

I start mine when I starting thinking about what item I'm filing. I mean, that's how long it actually takes for the idea to come to fruition.

I have a reason for asking this and it really has nothing to do with patience. I know it's going to take a bit of time to get here...

I've got five stamps out. Maybe they'll show up next year, maybe they wont.

I had one stamp take almost two years.

The reason for me asking this question is this...

I called the ATF today for a status update. I just wanted to be sure that I haven't been waiting for nothing OR if I should be expecting some sort of error letter. I was told by whoever I spoke to on the phone that my application hasn't been received yet. This started the wheels turning. Now, from what I have read on this forum and other sources on the net, this could mean that my application has not been entered into the system as of yet BUT my paranoia got the best of me! Could it possibly mean that my application was lost? Probably not but shit can happen.

This led to me asking the question that I did. It took 2.5 weeks for them to process payment. If I follow that time frame then I am 2 months into my wait. If I go by the date I sent my paperwork off then I am closer to 3. Either way I thought that there was a good chance that my application would have at least been entered into the system by now.

Am I overthinking this??? LOL

Is it normal for it to take this long to get PENDING or ERROR status?

ETA: checked some dates on NFAtracker and that didn't help the paranoia any...LOL

Actual dates would be helpful. Either way, extremely long waits are not at all surprising and there is no "normal" at the moment.

When ATF tells me a pending date. Surprised at the answers here haha. They aren't going pending for like 2-3 months now days, why would I want to think my form will be approved 3 months before it actually is?

For some reason most people on NFAtracker use check cashed as pending date.

Not sure I have ever quoted my own post but I stand corrected.

I don't check NFA tracker much since it didn't really matter the past decade before this 41 nonsense but I did after this post and it actually shows "Date check was cashed" below the graph.. Hmm, never knew, but I am glad to be wrong for once

2 months ago it was taking them 3 months to get forms into the system.  You are only 3 months into your wait which means you sent it the first of July just like 10 million other people who where jamming forms in before 41F.  If it took them 2 1/2 weeks to process your payment I'm guessing you can double about everything.  So wait another 3 months and it should be in the system.  You should have it approved 6-9 months after that.

So in other words you should have it about October of next year.

My dealer just called to let me know they received my stamp today for the suppressor I bought Feb 23. I don't know the check cashed or pending dates because I don't normally call.  My Form 4 took about the same as others purchased around then.

Any details on why it took almost two years? That's crazy. Especially if it was a while ago before all the 41F surge.

I have no idea why that stamp took so long.  I had multiple form 1's processed in the same time. (most e-file)  It finally came back with another form 4 I sent off awhile later.
