I submitted an E-Form 1 for a Colt 9MM lower and it was disapproved with a note to "Please use model name on lower receiver".
The Colt 9MM lower says in great big letters AR-15. Does anyone know what the correct model designation is for that lower so I can resubmit? Should it be 6450? Or is "AR15" correct? Thank you! |

Does the lower look like this one? If so, I'm not sure which is technically the model. AR15 or 9mm Carbine ETA : After some Googling, I'm more confused. Some people put LE6920 on their 6920 form 1s, but that's not engraved anywhere on the lower

I got disapproved due to listing multi as caliber. But it says refund in process, so I have to resubmit and get back in a 3 month line? This is my first e-file, I'm not sure how to proceed. re submit and email ted clutter with both control numbers. ^^ this ^^ Just follow these instructions. (Just know the refunds are definitely running more than the 10 days mentioned. |

Any other suggestions on model number? I dont want to resubmit with the same "AR-15" model number and have it disapproved again. Should I use "9mm Carbine" instead and send pics to Ted? Just a wild guess, but 9mm carbine might be what they're looking for. |

I don't know for sure on yours, but I've always attached a pic that shows model and serial number. The reality is it doesn't matter. You're not required to adopt the existing information, but you would have to engrave whatever you put on the form. That's why adopting the existing markings is the easy route. Therefore, AR-15 should've been fine, as would 9mm Carbine. However, the examiners don't follow the statutes when it comes to this topic. They want the model that the manufacturer provided them when the firearm was built. It can be quite frustrating. |

When you get to step 2 of the line item check my item description is not on the list.
Enter what you think is correct. Then attach a photo of the markings when you get to the attachments. You will see a warning on your Form 1. It will go into PENDING RESEARCH when you submit. They will look at the picture and update the data with what they want. I have used this when the markings do not EXACTLY match what is on the drop downs. The model on my lower had a - in it and the drop downs had a space. They changed it to just be all one word. |

Can anyone give me the correct email for Ted Clutter?
I have contacted him in the past at [email protected] and he replied. I have seen various posts to use [email protected]. Does anyone know for sure? I sent him an email Friday morning about this disapproved Form 1, but I have not received a response yet. Anyone know how long he usually takes or if maybe I should re-send the email to the atf.gov address? Thanks! |

You can send it to the @atf.gov account and the reply may come from the usdoj.gov account. |
