This weekend my Form 4 was returned to me with a reason stating "check marked insufficient"
WTF! over The account had money and the bank claims there was no check denials in my past (ever) even after a detailed look. I had been wondering why I never saw the check cashed in my account but I had called and confirmed it was pending. As with many other things I am baffled as to what the hell happened. I spoke with the examiner this morning and he told me to resubmit the application and documents and once the check was cashed and placed in the system to call a supervisor and explain the situation. Hopefully they will expedite my application. The LGS offered to handle the paperwork again but I declined, deciding I will do it thus eliminating one more step. I screw up all the time but I believe this one is on the BATFE! Oh and did I mention patience is not a virtue I possess so this is brutal. |
| I appreciate the comments, the form was sent in mid April so definitely a few months lost, maybe. Hopefully it will all work out, I sent a cashiers check yesterday. Once it hits the system I will give a supervisor a call. Maybe I will get a batch approval...trying to be optimistic. |

I resubmitted my form with a cashiers check (for extra proof) and sent certified mail. An examiner told me to speak with a supervisor when everything hit the system so I called and was able to finally speak with a supervisor. She was not very helpful and made it sound like I was inconveniencing her with an extra ordinary request. Since she could not identify the error in the financial processing she determined she could not expedite my application. However, she did say she would take it to the section chief and seek his opinion.
My guess of the verdict...........back of the line! Fucking bureaucrats. My NFA expereinces so far: 1- Form 4, dealer sent in, for rifle can, returned because of check issue, sent back in and in the middle of this crap. 2- Form 4, dealer sent in, for pistol can, never showed up, had to be resubmitted 3-Form 1 efiled, 100 days and stamp in hand I dont know if my dealer has been fucking me or the ATF or both, I am so pissed right now. I typed too quick in my frustration, I can be a jack ass, section chief allowed the form to go back in place instead of to the end of the line. Should be psfft psfft by hunting season. |

I see your in VA, by chance is your dealer in Va Beach? Only asking as number 2 on your list is exactly what happened to me... 44 |
| I personally, have never had my own paper checks. Always used a debit card, or cashier's checks, free from my credit union, when needed. I always call my credit union and get the dates that the cashiers checks were cleared, and write serial # of the can on my stub, so I know what NFA item they were for. Sorry to hear your application got messed up (although it seems resolved now) but I agree with the fellow member who said it only takes 1 number to get messed up and the whole thing is kaput. |

Doesn't help the original poster now but that is why I always use Postal Money Orders. They don't wait to clear and the person entering the info into the system cant really screw it up. The one time I got a postal money-order, it was for over $1,000. I had to fill out a form with what I was buying, name, address, etc. Postal employee said it was to prevent terrorism... GTFO No more postal MOs for me.
