I have a Colt M-16A1 and two Fleming HK sears. I have several hosts for the sears including a 51k, HK91, PTR91, C93, PTR x39, and my MM21e/23e. My question is with several Colt M-16A2's that seem to be floating around for sale, I have been thinking about trading one of my HK sears for a Colt M-16A2. Now I know that there seems to be an issue or two with a few of these A2's out there but I referring to one of the true transferable A2's.
Yeah, I might have to pony up a few boxes of ziti but would love an A2.

That is up to you.................. but if your looking for opinions. Other than the markings and a few changes to the lowers make up, your M16A1 is going to do the same thing as the M16A2, so why bother with losing an HK sear over it. Your HK sear can be used in many different variations of the HK type 5.56 weapons compared to the M16A2 which does not give you many options other than a 9mm or .22 conversion.
If your going to get rid of the sear, why not look at something different than what you already have. A Mp5 or Mp5k host(CDI factor), a Thompson etc etc But, if your dead set on an M16A2, go for it...... its your Hk sear to do what ya want. Good luck and hope you get what you want and are happy with the decision you make |

Would love to but being in this fcuked up state of CT, can't get a whole list of goodies. Yet we can still get some goodies. Thanks for your kind words. |

Personally I would keep the two HK Sears and if needed trade the M16A1 plus some cheddar for an A2 if you have to have one as the differences are really just cosmetic.
I am in a similar position. I have three HK Sears and four M16 variants and am seriously considering trading off an Oly M16 for a Thompson. Just not sure if I really want a WH in a roughly even exchange for the Oly or a WW2 1928 variant for an additional ~7 to 8K on top of the Oly. The thought has also crossed my mind to trade/sell an HK sear for a FAL and Norrell 10/22, just to diversify a bit more. Those DSA OSWs just always looked mean. |

A WH was listed on sturm the other day for $14k. Seemed like a bit of a steal to me...not sure if it's still available. |

I tried to grab it on Monday morning...according to the seller it was gone in under 5 minutes. I would have been backup offer number 20-something. |

I don't feel so bad if it was under 5 minutes...could never have snagged it |

But sear hosts aren't all "pre-ban," which is why I'm sure he's more willing to unload a sear. Quoted:

Hey har, do you just mean your limited by mags? I'm sure I don't have to tell you everything is preban in regards to MG's. But sear hosts aren't all "pre-ban," which is why I'm sure he's more willing to unload a sear. This is true. However, I did register my sears in 1994 so I am grandfathered here to have select fire. Just think the factory A2 is just sooo badass. NIB one's

When you get the Thompson, it will be your automatic favorite. No pun intended. I strongly advise you to skip the WH and get a real pre-1945 Thompson. The WH guns are poor quality 1970s knockoffs, just a tad above airsoft. They were not made on the original tooling. They are not treasured by gun collectors the way real Thompsons are. They have all kinds of dimensional problems and Thompson is a precision built gun. You might end up dumping $5k into the gun to get it to run good and not eat itself alive. If the NFA registry hadn't closed in 1986, WHs would be a $300 gun. Can they be rehabilitated with USGI parts and re-machined? Yes they can. But why bother when another $5k will buy you an excellent condition USGI M1 and M1A1 model? They are one of the very best MG values out there. Technically they are a better gun than the 28s. Savage got rid of the frou frou and improved the action. |
