So I filed back in October, Got my forms back today with the "you have 30 days to correct this" Letters...

On the Form 1 (Building a Delisle Carbine)

it says "Verify model will appear on silencer as listed on Item 4d"

On my Form 1, I listed originally in block Item 4d "SMLE De Lisle Carbine"

How exactly do I verify for the ATF that the "model will appear on silencer as listed on Item 4d"?

I had planned on engraving this. What is the deal?

Thanks in advance

Call them and ask?

I would imagine they want to make sure that the engraving is on the integral silencer/barrel assembly itself, not on the action.

submit a letter with your forms saying exactly what your are engraving and where? maybe a photo with MS paint over top showing the location and text?

I'm not sure since ive never been in your situation or heard of it. Is your text a made up model number? or is it already engraved on the gun/receiver or something? if so, submit a photograph. The more showing exactly what  you are doing the better. I would think

I submitted the serial number of the SMLE receiver I was using as the host.

It is integrally suppressed, the tube will be engraved with the name, address, and all the other info on it.

I will call them and ask them what they are needing.

You're probably confusing them with your model info.

My understanding is that:
1)  Unless you're welding the can to the SMLE, the suppressor and the rifle are two different items.
2)  You should file the form 1 to make a suppressor of the dimensions needed for the project (length, caliber) with no model info.  It's just a can.
3)  The rifle would be a SBR on its own form 1, you would enter the model info of the rifle as it currently exists (SMLE or whatever, no "De Lisle Carbine" designation unless it was originally manufactured as such).
4)  You need two stamps for this project.
4a)  If you're using a 16" barrel or permanently attaching the suppressor body to the barrel to bring it over 16", you could get by with 1 stamp for just the silencer.

Of course, I may be mistaken and YMMV.  Let us know what they say when you talk to them.
