They would have still kicked it back for box 8 apparently. I filed it as an individual, box 8 shouldn't be applicable, since that is for a firm or corporation authorized official. You have to print your name in Box 8. The title is "if applicable". No you don't, I have an approved form 1 from 2011 with nothing in box 8, and box 4h the way I put it on this application. I filled this application out the exact same way I did my last approved form 1 as an individual. Applicant name is at the top, putting it again in box 8 would be redundant. I am not an authorized official of a firm or corporation, I am an individual. On the tax stamps I got from my trust, I am there as the trustee in box 8. Box 8, Name and Title of Authorized Official of Firm or Corporation (if applicable) |

Getting one approved with an error does not mean that is how you should fill it out. Losing months of time sucks. Hence why we have developed "best practices" to ensure forms get approved on the first try. 4h emtpy, one caliber, Nothing stupid in 4i, etc. You do not want to follow advice on 8, go ahead, leave it blank again. Maybe it will slip by. Maybe not, and you can wait 8 more months. |

(Which I think we'd all agree is ridiculous...what was good 3-4 years ago, on the same form, is no longer valid) |

It's been said a million times people. Leave 4h blank. Always! I filed for 4 form 1s in the last 6 months all for trust/SBRs. On 3 of them I left 4h blank, but on my M92 PAP form 1 I put the importer engraved info. Saw importer info should be in that block in some kind of instructions...can't remember if it was from ATF or a NFA lawyer blog or what, but at any rate I put down the century arms abbreviation, city/state just like it appears on the gun from the factory....and it was approved. I'm sure it would have been approved if blank also so it really is a waste of time to fill it out, but it's not always a deal-breaker either. |

4h is simply for additional description of anything engraved on the firearm. No probably adding the additional info if it's already there. Just make sure it's all spelled exactly as engraved.
The issue is if you put your trust info and something is spelled wrong, or they don't like the abbreviation used, etc. You can end up with having to engrave both the correct info, and the incorrect info you put in the 4h. That's why you should just leave it blank. |
