So a quick background to why I am asking this question. I submitted a paper form 1 a couple days before eform 1's came back online. I then put a stop payment on my check (which ultimately failed) and submitted an eform 1. So once my paper form went pending I was going to send in a letter to cancel the paper form 1 per the ATF intructions. The ? I have is whether I could just alter one of my form 1's to a different lower w/o canceling and resubmitting?  Like just saying to the ATF that I accidentally submitted duplicate forms and meant to put a different lower on one of the form 1s. I am guessing the answer is no but figured I would see if anyone else knew here before asking the ATF. Thanks in advance.

I plan on doing so but thought maybe I could just go out, buy a new lower, send in new paper form 1's minus the check w/ a cover letter asking that they replace my current paper form 1 w/ the corrected paper form 1 and then just wait out the paper form 1 as I already have the eform 1 pending. Will pass on whatever I find out since I just sent an email to Ted Clutter as I already asked him what I should do w/ regarding the duplicate forms via ask the experts.

The serial number is a key field in the system, so it's highly unlikely it can be changed once entered.  My guess is they will tell you to cancel and resubmit...

This is my guess, but Mr. Clutter emailed me back asked me to call or give him my phone number so I will give him a ring when I go for lunch or when I get done w/ work.

Well good news, all I need to do is email Ted Clutter w/ my serial number and then he will watch for it to enter the system for the paper form 1. He then said he I can either kick it back for correction so I can swap out serial numbers to a different lower or disapprove it so I can get refunded. Figure I would probably go w/ the latter and just efile when I am refunded since I really don't have an extra lower laying around at this point.

If Ted C is willing to kick it back for correction when it enters the system, he just might approve it when you send back the corrected form...

This is a good point but I am thinking I would rather just get the 200 back and put it towards the suppressor I am going to buy in the next couple of months. I already have an eform 1 pending so I figure its just easier to disapprove the paper form 1 rather than go through a correct and then have something get screwed up like paperwork getting mixed up. I am really new to the nfa stuff and don't want to get things too complicated.

For the record, it won't get disapproved. It'll just get cancelled, and they'll refund your $200. You can actually do that at any point in the process (once it shows up in the system), including after your stamp is received if you choose not to build it.

disapproved/cancelled, aren't they essentially the same thing? But maybe I should just have him send it back to me for correction and I can just change out the lower for something else. From what I have read it seems like it can take 3 months to get your 200 back. By that time I doubt I will notice that I had spent the 200.
