I am looking to create a trust for NFA items. I have done a lot of reading, but I don't completely understand the trust process. I know that states have specific trust requirements. I am active duty military stationed in Alabama, meaning that I am a resident of Alabama, but my residence will not necessarily be permanent. My other state of residence is New York, a no-go for NFA goodies. I want to create a trust in Alabama, but I want to ensure that there will be no complications. Does anyone have experience in this matter?

If you are a resident of Alabama, having a trust there won't be an issue. However obviously the problem will come if you move back to NY, because the guns can't come. One option would be to leave the guns with another trustee in Alabama.

I don't plan to live in NY again, so that shouldn't be an issue.
