first off, my search fu is weak. I'm sure it's here, but I did not find.
I'm going to do a F1 for my AR to SBR it. If I put an 8" barrel length, can I go longer, but not shorter? Do I need to have an 8" barrel, or will having only a 10" barrel still be legal. i gues i'm asking is it "at least" or "only" |
| It is more of a "whatever". The Form 1 is a snapshot in time. Put the length you intend to build on the form 1. Once your Lower is registered as a SBR, in the future you can change longer or shorter barrel. The ATF only REQUESTS that you notify them if the change is permanent |

Doesn't matter what it is, as long as it is under 16" and you have access to a barrel that length for the first time you assemble it (that constitutes the act of "making," in the eyes of ATF). Once it has been made, you lawfully may put any length barrel on it, from 0" to infinity. |

Now wasn't there a user here that had the traveling form 5320 or whatever the number is get denied because the barrel length on the form was not the same as the registry.
If this was indeed the case wouldn't it be beneficial to the user to keep the registry updated especially if one travels often with their nfa firearm. |
