Hey all,

I'm planning to build my first SBR. Currently in the process of filling out my form 1 and its asks if I'm under 21 years of age. I am 20 and turn 21 in January. My question is can I check "No" and send it out a month, month and a half prior to my birthday and by the time it's reviewed/approved I'll be 21 years old? Or should I wait even longer to send it out on my actual birthday :(

You don't have to be 21 to file a Form 1 - only 18.

Why does it ask for a separate explanation if you answer "yes" to that question if I only need to be 18 to submit it?

Probably because they tried to make all the forms as standardized and identical as possible. As such, it was probably an oversight that form 1s don't have to pass through a dealer and thus not invoking the 21 rule.

There's a letter from NFA legal counsel that says its good to go somewhere around here...

Just print this out and include it with your Form 1.
