I did some research, but I came up with different things and I have an idea but I want to make sure everything I'm doing is VERY LEGAL. I have an SBR (The uppers is at one house by itself *very lonely*) and the lower is at a different house. I'm trying to bring these two together because they were meant for each other. However, I found out I need to fill out a form 1, which is absolutely fine. However I also found out I have to have an engraving on the lower.
The class 3 dealer I went to (Buying my first can *A gemtech G5T* are telling me they cannot engrave it and I would have to do this myself after I get my Form 1 filled out (They cannot help me with that either) I'm trying to do this by the book and I want to make sure I get everything right. Any help would be highly appreciated. I will also post this in the hometown forums as well but I also wanted to get the info here, because like I said "You cannever be too careful." |

This isn't as overwhelming as it sounds which is good news. You can send it to Ident or Orion who will both do a great job, and meet the minimum depth requirements and look nice too. You will need your name, or name of the trust/llc/corp on the gun, and city of residence. |
| Okay one more question. I obviously have to send the lower through a FFL dealer to Orion or Ident. Do I have to send it through a class 3 dealer (Just the lower of course) or can I send it through just an FFL dealer. The class 3 dealers here are pains in the ass, and I really don't want to have to go through them if I can. |

SOT (Class 1/2/3) is not required to ship a firearm, even an NFA firearm, in order to have work performed on it. Any old FFL will do. It is customary when shipping NFA to anyone for work, to include a copy of your registration (F1 or F4, usually), and a letter asking/authorizing the FFL to perform such and such services on the firearm. I belive both Orion and Ident are themselves FFLs. If so, you can ship straight to them to have the work done, and it comes straight back to you, no FFL necessary on your end. |

I thought with lowers you had to send it through an FFL dealer..... |

I thought with lowers you had to send it through an FFL dealer..... No, you can ship it direct to any FFL to have work done, and the FFL can ship it right back to you. that is freaking awesome. Thank you for telling me, because I was about to go through a bunch of unnecessary crap in order to do this.
