This is where i send off my Form 1 to correct?
Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives National Firearms Act Branch 244 Needy Road Martinsburg, West Virginia 25405 And i make out the check to.... Bureau of ATF Or should i spell it out like this.. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms? Thanks for the help, hoping to send off my first form1 off today!! Edit: By the way how does everyone send payment if you don't actually use checks? Can you send a bank check? or would money order be more preferred? Just want to be able to track it and see when it was cashed. Thanks again. |

I don't know if it really matters how you right it out as long as it's obvious who it is to.
If you pay by personal check they electronically cash it. I always pay by personal check so I get an obvious "check cashed" date. Unless you pay by some method that pings an account you have control over I don't think there is any way to know when the payment was processed. Can someone tell me why on the Form 4 they say to make payment out to he BATFE but on a Form 1 they say make payment out to the DOJ? |

When all else fails....read the directions on the form:
1) "(Submit in duplicate. See Instructions attached.)To: National Firearms Act Branch, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, 244 Needy Road, Suite 1250, Martinsburg, WV 25405" 2) "Tax Paid. Submit with your application a check or money order for $200 made payable to the Department of the Justice. Upon approval of the application, this office will acquire, affix, and cancel the required “National Firearms Act: stamp for you." Just send a bank check or money order. But it will be difficult to track. Easiest thing might be to have a friend or family member write a check, so you can see when it clears. |
