The wait is making me wish I sent in my form one with delivery confirmation. It has almost been a month and my check has not been cashed. Is this very common?

It depends, some companies take for ever to process a check.

It's happend to me.
I sent in June 24th and it wasn't cashed until August 2.

I just sent a check this month and it took over 2 weeks to be cashed. In the past it has taken them less than a week to cash my checks so it seems they are moving even slower now. I would wager the holidays and vacation time is slowing things down.

I would consider this to be highly irregular, assuming we are talking about the ATF. They are now clearing checks electronically and usually within days of receiving them.

Yes, I am talking about the BATFE. I guess it could have been lost in the mail.

I mailed my forms and check on 13 July, it was cashed on 25 Aug. some time in the middle, they told my my check had been sent to Atlanta with some other stuff by mistake.

that inspired confidence.

Weird. I just called and they were very helpful and told me they got it on Dec 7 and it went pending on Dec 27. Only 6 months to go!

Maybe the check will never get cashed....

I've had one that the transfer got approved before my check was cashed. Had the stamp in hand before my check was cashed. Such is life some times.

My form 1 arrived on 12/19 and the check cleared (electronically) on 12/29. I just sent another form 1 today, we will see how long that one takes. Perhaps this time it will take USPS less than 7 days to get it "priority mail" from North Carolina to West Virginia. I always use delivery confirmation just so I can be sure the forms arrived successfully.

I mailed my form 1 on 12-29 1nd the check cleared my bank today 1-5-2012 Let the aproval wait begin!!
