Really neat sbr. If you do it yourself you have a blind pin to remove the barrel shroud that needs to be drilled out. Past that you have a few companies making aftermarket barrels or you can have the factory one cut down. Still have one I need to do. CMMG sells a p90 style flash hider for them and gemtech sells one that their g5 suppressor mounts to(looks like a p90 flash hider with two ears for the suppressor). Past that you have thead adapters to attach ar 15 flash hiders. For mine I have the g5 adapter, just haven't gotten around to sbr'ing it. I think vortex sells a flash hider for them as well. |

Lots of help here To make your own SBR you need to fill out two original ATF Form 1s, get two passport style photos to attach, get both copies of the Form 1 signed by CLEO (as originals, photocopies are NOT okay) of your location, do two sets of finger print cards, two copies of certification of compliance, write one $200 check, and wait 5-?? months. Once you recieve the form 1 back approved by the ATF with Stamp affixed, you can make your own SBR by replacing the barrel. This is the method for doing an individual SBR. If you go trust, LLC, Corp method, remove CLEO signature, prints and photos and add your legal entity (trust, LLC, etc) paperwork for the ATF. Wait is still the same and you can not actually build/make your SBR until you get approved Form1 back with stamp affixed. |

I think Ill just wait till CLEO requirement is gone, even though Im LE, he beleives that people dont need these types of guns, his words, if you cant hunt deer with it you dont need it. Then you are the perfect candidate for one of the applying as a "legal entity" vs. an individual. Reading up on it an knowing how the gov't works, best case scenario; it will be at least another 6 months to a year before we see the process implemented without CLEO signature, IMHO. |

Thats what they were saying in December 2010...you can hold your breath for another 5 years if you want to. Best to just setup a trust. Source: http://www.silencertests.com/silencer-forum/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=65428 I read that it already come back from DOJ approved, is that right? If so then it still needs to go for public comment, federal register, new forms, policy written, policy effective date etc. If I was wrong about DOJ approval then I am way off on the time line. I was basing my guess on just the bureaucracy post-DOJ approval |

I was basing my guess on just the bureaucracy post-DOJ approval I haven't seen a single legitimate website/document stating that this has been approved, and I've looked. Its always 2nd hand "I heard some guy that said....." stuff and never anything factual. My FFL spoke to a supervisor (with me present) at the NFA branch and the supervisor said he had never even heard of it. I believe the sup's name was Tim something? I don't remember. |

Lol, already tried that, he doesnt think people need these guns, the only gun you need in his opinion is a deer rifle. |

Enjoy all the additional advantages of a trust while secretly thinking "phu(& them" every time you look at or shoot your perfectly legal NFA firearm. |

Well you still have options; 27 CFR 479.63 A certificate of the local chief of police, sheriff of the county, head of the State police, State or local district attorney or prosecutor, or such other person whose certificate may in a particular case be acceptable to the Director, shall be completed on each copy of the Form 1 (Firearms). 479.85 basically says the same thing about form 4s |
