| I'm in the process of building a SBR. I have a simple question that came to mind. Do you have to go through a dealer to buy/sell a class 3 item if it's a private transaction between two people? I know you still have to send in the forms (form 4?), pay the tax, and wait, but I'm wondering if a dealer is required anywhere in the process. |

If the buyer is in your state then you can sell it directly to them on a form 4. If the buyer is in another state then you will have to transfer it to their dealer on a form 4....this is why, among other reasons, you don't see many form 1'd ARs or suppressors for sale...there just isn't a huge market for them unles you can find a buyer in your state. |
