I'm getting my ducks in a row to going the 'Individual' route but after reading the Complete Guide of how to complete Form 1 I'm still unclear on some previously covered key points, namely:

Albeit it says engraving should be exactly as the name on the form, Mickey Rodent Mouse, will M. R. Mouse suffice on the reciever?

A current working link for Form 5330.20

I am currently undecided on an upper bbl. length, vascilating between 11.5 and 12.5, plus, being as the FH will only be screwed on as opposed to perm. attached I may later be switching from a 2" Extended A2 to a Vortex or Blackout which is slightly shorter than an EA2.
If I put down an 11.5 can I go longer if I change my mind while waiting for approval?

Does the engraving go through the parkerizing, which I'm sure it does, and leave shiny, raw aluminum etching?
If so, do you just touch it up with a bluing pen?

Thanks

No, FULL name as it appears on the paperwork. Only recognized abbreviations, and M is not a recognized abbreviation for Mickey, and likewise with R.

You can always changed, but you need to list the configuration that it will initially be built in. After that you can change things around as much as you want, but if you make a permanent change to the listed length/caliber (sell that upper, take it apart, cut the barrel down etc), you should notify ATF. Barrel length is measured without muzzle devices attach so your flash-hider options don't matter.

AR's aren't parked, they're anodized, and yes, it will go through and leave shiny AL underneath. Some places will re-blacken that for you, others won't. IMHO, it's not necessary. Brownells sells a product called aluma-black, and that seems to have good reviews, but costly for just a small touch-up. You could really use anything you wanted. I have no first-hand experience so I can't say what is good and what isn't good. I just left mine plain, shiny AL.

OP,

the ATF has recently stated that they will not accept abbreviations for trust names, they want the full trust name engraved. I have not heard of them doing the same for individuals. Call the BATFE NFA Branch and ask them for clarification. Worst case scenario in the block for "other markings", put M.R. Mouse Orlando FL. When I setup my trust, I made sure it was called "Hellbound Trust" for this reason. It's short and simple. On the form 1, i leave the "other markings" box blank.

as for your barrel question, the flash hider is NOT part of the barrel measurement, so changing flash hiders is not an issue. however, picking a barrel size is as you need to list the configuration prior to submitting.

Thanks.
I'm pretty certain I'll be cutting a RRA 1/9 M4 bbl. down to 11.5 as ADCO says it can thread over the M203 cut although BCMs new 12.5 1/7 looks pretty sweet and with the three months wait for a stamp I'm sure I'll be doing alot of second guessing . So in case I decide on the 12.5 during the wait you're saying I can notify ATF and tell them I want to change and add an inch to the overall length without putting the application to the back of the line again?

Also, does anyone know the current link to download the 5330.20 Form?

Edit: OK, after reading The Dummies guide to SBR again I see what you're saying. please ignore the red question.
As long as I have the primary bbl. which is an 11.5 in my possesion/safe I can stick a 12.5 or 10.5 on as long as I can take it back to it's registered configuration. That raises question though on the legallity of having an unregistered 12.5 in my possesion but it's moot since I won't.

as long as you don't have any unfinished non pistol/SBR lowers you can have a few <16" uppers

Wait until you get the form back, then if you've decided to go with a barrel length other than the one you listed on the form, send the ATF a letter requesting that they update the database.  Or don't.  It's not required by law for you to notify them when changes are made.  They are required to update the database though, so they do request that you notify them.
