So if you have a SBR (form 1) and in the form 1 you have stated that the gun has a 10.5 barrel.  Does this limit you to only a 10.5 barrel as described or could you install anything shorter than 16 inches?

Anything you want, including longer than 16".  Just keep the 10.5" on hand to return it to its original state.  If you do sell the 10.5" send the ATF a letter stating that the firearm has been permanently modified.
