Is it possible to import a MG from abroad? (pretty sure I know my own answer to my question, but thought I'd try anyway )

The Gun Control Act of 1968 made it illegal for a civilian to own any and all NFA items imported, or reimported, after 1968.

That's why any transferable imported MGs made between 1968 and the 1986 cutoff were imported as semis and later legally converted to MGs after they were in-country.

The same applies to factory SBRs, SBS's, AOWs, DDs and suppressors: If they were made outside the U.S., they can only be imported for LE and military sales, or as dealer samples restricted to FFL/SOT ownership.
