I'm looking to go the SBR route and I've got a couple questions about the physical location of the gun.
I may end up being out of state for a while (6 months) after the gun is registered, and I wouldn’t be in an SBR friendly state to take it with me. Is it allowable to store the rifle at a friends while I am gone if it is in a locked case and therefore not accessible to anyone else? Or should I go the route of establishing a trust, which would allow me to add someone else to the trust and therefore “hold” the gun while I’m gone? thanks |

i would get a safety deposit box and then you can just keep the lower in the box. or give one friend the lower and have it locked up and another friend give them the upper.
when i go out of town i take my mossberg AOW apart and put the receiver in my safty deposit box. i also put my 22lr suppressor in it. just make sure your payed up so your box will still be there when you get back. my deposit box is 3x5x22 and was $25 a year |

So how does the BATF view something like storing it at a different location. I'm probably wrong, but if I understand correctly, the BATF wants the address of where the weapon is, and they would want the ability to verify it's location/inspect it.
If I'm not around, and it's locked up how would that work? Does the amount of time that I'm gone matter, say 6 months becomes a year? The question comes up due to my status in the reserves, I'm looking at a school which would take me out of state, and there is always the option of getting depolyed. I'm single and rent, so a permanent residence doesn't exist that I could leave it. |

The ATF doesn't show up to inspect inventory unless you're an FFL. |
