Okay, I researched and completed the Form 1 paperwork several years ago but decided not to complete the process.  Now I'm thinking of starting over on a new rifle and some things seem to have changed but I want to verify.

1)  Several years ago what I read stated that under "Length of Barrel" it was ok to put "under 16" or a range like "7 to 15".  Now everything I've read seems to indicate that a specific barrel length is needed.  Same for the OAL.  Has this changed or is the old method still allowable?

2)  Back then, I went to Kinkos and made a two-sided Form 1 with my picture photocopied onto the back.  The NFA handbook says no photocopies of photos allowed.  Has this changed or am I misinterpreting their intent in that statement?

3)  Finally, let's say I live in Oklahoma City.   If I engrave  J Doe    OKC, OK am I fulfilling that requirement?

Thanks!

As a general rule ATF wants to see one specific barrel length, OAL, and caliber listed (except if the weapon is an AOW combo gun). You can still use different length barrels temperarily without notifying NFA Branch, or you can permenantly reconfigure and send them an ammendment letter.

I have never filed as an individual, so I have no idea. They will, however, accept digital pictures that are incorporated into the form. I would go on the safe side and either mechanically attach a passport picture (they're cheap enough- CVS will sell you 6 of them for $6.99) or incorporate a QUALITY color (I added that) digital picture.

3) Finally, let's say I live in Oklahoma City. If I engrave J Doe OKC, OK am I fulfilling that requirement?
You are allowed recognized abbreviations. Obviously postal state codes are acceptable. I would think OKC is acceptable- its understood nationally, not just locally.

Thanks!  That helps clarify things.
