Basically I sent in my paperwork to get approved and it was not due to the following. - Complete Certification of Compliance with 18 U.S.C (922)(g)(5)(b) They attached a copy of it to my paperwork but to me it seems to be a pointless piece of paperwork. It asks your name, country of citizenship, and a signature. BUT more importantly, when I mail this back in do I need to mail in another $200.00 check. Please say no because if I do my unhappiness w/the ATF is going to turn into a deep hate. Also will the turn around be any quicker? This took them 2 1/2 months. Thanks |

The certificate of Compliance -- a.k.a form 5330.20 -- was created shortly after 9/11 and added as a requirement for all sorts of federal firearms paperwork, to track the citizenship of those involved with firearms. It has nothing to do with the CLEO signoff -- your sheriff prolly doesn't know it exists. But the federal government does, and wants a copy of it. Everyone who has submitted a Form 1 or Form 4 as an individual in the last seven years has had to include a 5330.20. Sorry you didn't get the word. If you had, instead of getting a rejection, you would have your approved form in your hands today. Fill it out, sign it, and send it back. No need for another check. They should approve you fairly quickly. |
