So, I'm out at the range the other day, and my trusty AR double fires. That's odd, I think to myself. Maybe I was just imagining it, but then it happened again in the next mag, and then once more before the end of my session. I pulled apart the lower and the trigger, disconnector, and spring are all good. I lubed them up, and put them back in the gun. Haven't taken it back out to test it. Now the question is, is it possible that fouling from the direct impingement system could have gummed up something, and caused the double fire? The rifle is a DPMS, with a stock trigger, and has never given me a bit of trouble. Thanks for the help |
He said he was useing federal 50 grn hollowpoints, which if it is the same that I use has crimped primers and is pretty good. |
| I dont think it is a question of useing Mobil 1 or not, I think it is more of an issue that you dont clean your bolt, but you hose it down with a thick lubricant. Mobil 1 I dont think is bad, I just think that hosing the thing down with a bunch of it is not the way to do it. |
| I clean everything after each range trip. I use Mobil 1 75-90w gear oil on the rails of my ceiner kit in full auto. I shoot about 1.5k rounds before I clean w/ break cleaner then re lube. I also use a couple drips on my rollers on my Mp5 as well. I find that using a can causes the clp to blow off and allow carbon and crud to cause issues. I haven't had any issues using the heavy lube it stays put. Like I said I clean everything after each use. This week I'm going to try using WCLP and see how it does. |
