I have a friend in the Army who told me several years ago, that you are able to take an AR15 and 'file the firing pin down' in some way as to make it fully auto....how much truth is there to this?

Only one way to find out. Have at it

IBTL....no truth to this statemet, plus even attempting such a thing without the proper paperwork and stamp will get you an all expense paid trip to club fed.

if you file the firing pin down, your gun won't shoot. this is one of those myths perpetuated by annoying fudds at the gun range...

"give me 5 minutes with a file, and that thing will be purring like a kitten"
and you'll be purring like a kitten when bubba is pounding you in the ass in federal prison.

You need to go somewhere else to ask things like this, you are talking about doing something illegal and need to drop all thoughts of it now or need to stop polluting our forums with it.

The firing pin is very easy to remove.

I'd say remove maybe 1/8" off that bad boy.  Get rid of that "nub" part.  You'll be good to go after that.  Trust me it'll make your AR-15 very safe.

filez da pinz!

Really all you have to do is look at the way an AR or any gun functions; if you are so thick you can't figure out how it works by taking it apart filez da pinz you won't be the first. Maybe it is just me but I like to understand how anything in which I am interested works; it makes any job or hobby more enjoyable and you wont have jerks like me trolling you. You learn much more by investigating than by asking.

OK, first, IBTL!

Next, my first reaction was the OP joined this month and has 9 posts.   Obvious troll asking about illegally converting a weapon.

Then I did a search.  He is building his first weapon.   He says he's not a gun owner yet and seems very enthusiastic about it.  Zack from LA broke the bad news that it's $10K+ to get into FA and I think he now understands that.

Glad to see new faces in our hobby, Shockz, but try to do a little reading for the first few days.   Hope your lefty build goes well!

Where in TX are you?  Be sure and visit the TX hometown forum.

Check the dates between where he was informed about legal full auto and when he asked this question... He is obviously trying to ask how to ILLEGALY make an AR full auto. We dont need that kind of crap here.

I've got 2 LEGAL mg's so of course I don't want post like that around here or anywhere else, I just try to give folks the benefit of the doubt.  I didn't notice the dates between postings.

Your friend is on crack.

Everyone knowledgeable knows you're supposed to cut off the trigger to make it full-auto.

No, no, no!

If you cut the trigger off then that means you can't manually make the gun fire.  So how's the gun supposed to fire?

AUTOMATICALLY of course!

Geez, watch a you-tube movie on the internet and read some dudes blog so you understand how these mechanical things work.

Is that why HK did that in their pistol ad?

I knew they were innovative but that's some real forward thinking.

and if you want to make it more powerful, load it up with .30-06.  you just have to push real hard to get the rounds into the mag, and maybe tilt the follower a bit.  oh btw, this is why the .gov came up with the anti-tilt followers - to keep people from having automatic weapons easily.  it's a conspiracy!

Just to hijack for a second,

some of you ARFCOM tards don't know your In Before etiquette.

When someone says in before the lock, that means HE is in before the lock not the other 9 tards who repeat it.

Sheesh.
