[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Bring SBR out of state with long bbl

Is it legal to bring an SBR to another state with only a 16"+ upper and leave the shorty upper at home? WIll I still need to get ATF approval since the receiver is going out of state or does making it back to a "rifle" make it okay?

Once a registered SBR always a registered SBR regardless of what length of barrel you have on it. Unless you have it removed from the registry. As far as state to state travel I couldn't tell you

I wouldn't transport an SBR lower interstate without an approved Application to Transport Interstate, regardless of actual barrel length.
