If I made my check out to the "dept of treasury" instead of the "dept of justice" will it get kicked. Slightly older forms say dept of treasury, new forms say dept of justice. thanks, wg |

On the current Form1 in section 1 it says, " Submit with your application a check or money order for $200 made payable to the Department of the Treasury". In the instructions section 2. f. Remittance. It says "make payable to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives. Either should be correct. I made mine payable to UNITED STATES DEPARTMENT OF THE TREASURY and in the 'notes' section of the check wrote making tax SBS remington 870 serial number XXXXXXXX. Check cashed, no problem. |
