| I just took possession of a new, unfired RIA M60 (individual Form 4 was 21 days to approval). Did I mention it has never been fired? What Would You Do (WWYD)? |
|
If you go with option A: I would shove a towel down your throat, wait for yout stomach to start digesting it, then yank it out, taking the lining of your stomach with it..... ![]() If you go with option B: Same thing, but I would let you enjoy the gun first ![]() ![]() Seriously, great job. There are few enough of those that it will always be valuable. I'd shot it and love it. If you're really worried about it, buy alot of spare parts and keep on hand in case you need to sell it quickly. Want to donate to the Cowboys Need M16s fund? Its non deductible and only hurts the first time. |

With the exception of my Reising, every MG I own I bought NIB. They lost their cherries in short order (usually a matter of hours, though one stayed virgin for 11 days). If I want an investment, I'll talk to my broker. If I want something to hang on the wall and admire, I'll buy more art. Guns are meant to be shot. A lot. |
You mean like this? SP1Grrl firing M60 |
| Depends on why you bought it. If you bought it strictly for investment purposes... don't shoot it. It will be worth more than those that have been fired. Or at the very least it will command top market price. If you bought it for the love of guns... what's the point of having it if you're not going to shoot it. And if you did it for the love of guns... chances are you're never going to sell it anyway... so you've made an investment you'll never collect on... might as well shoot it then... or you're just wasting money for nothing. |

BTW, hrt4me, this is not aimed at you, just at the people who answered the question... All those folks who vote for "don't shoot it" must be soulless, Gordon Gekko-preaching "investors." Yeah, let's see how many M60s we can take out of circulation, to drive up the prices even farther. I imagine they also lock up virgins until they are 60, just so no one can get there before them..... Guns were made to be shot; whiskey or wine, to be drunk; fast cars, to be driven to the limit; women, to be ... well, we won't go there. I really, really, really hate to see something I love -- shooting full-auto -- reduced and redefined to a line item in some coldhearted bozo's investment portfolio. When I am on my deathbed, my last thoughts will not be "Gee, I wish I hadn't shot that virgin M60." Instead, I'll be ranting and raving to dump "just one more belt! Please, God!" I only own four MGs, and I'd prolly take a $20k hit if 922(o) were repealed. If that happened, I wouldn't shed a single tear; instead, I'd buy one or two more -- I'm a shooter, and that would meet all my needs and wants. But I would be dancin' in the streets as I watched the "investors" cry like babies when their $30,000 "don't touch it unless you're wearing white gloves!" investments are suddenly worth $300. Now, that is something to work for! Shoot it -- or sell it to someone who will. There are no other choices. |
several other posters and I got royaly flamed for talking like this on sturm and subguns. we also got flamed for noticing the gap between those that can afford them (MG's) as easily as I afford a coke. it really stired up a stink and I just wanted a simple question answered . I do agree with every thing you posted above. if the '86 ban was lifted I would own very few semi -autos |

If I were you, I'd invite me over to shoot it. A lot. And then I'd shoot it some more, with every person I could think of. Just think of how many folks you could send home looking like this: In fact, I'd probably be looking for a second job to afford the ammo bill. Why yes, I AM jealous. |
Since when R_X adopts gangsta style shooting with MGs? |
I was still in the gangster mindset after shooting the Tommy Gun. |
I love the gangsta style. ![]() The next get together out there better be on a day I don't have to work, or I'm going to have to quit my job.
