I sent my F1 and F4 on 8-21, each by certified mail.  I have checked it every day to see if they were delivered.  The F4 check came thruogh the bank on 8-28,  but the USPS web site still doesn't show delivery.  The F1 envelope has just shown up as delivered, TODAY 9-3!!  I could have walked to Washington and delivered it faster than this!! SHEESH!!!!!!!!!!!  I was hoping it might be approved by the end of September, doesn't look too promising right now.

I just sent in my first F4 2 weeks ago. I found out, as you did, that USPS isn't interested in keeping an accurate account of certified letters, at least not the the ATF. The $200 check cleared faster than USPS in letting me know it was even delivered! I'm just glad it arrived intact.

In the future, Im only going to use fedex for form submission.

The Chicago BATF address is an unstaffed drop box. Sending in paperwork by any method which requires a signature may slow down your application considerably. At best, USPS will drop off both the letter and the confirmation signature slip, and then pick up the signed slip later.

Priority mail, with delivery confirmation.  No signature required.  Fedex isn't worth the extra green.

ETA: use the USPS flat rate envelopes.

I had good luck with certified mail when I sent some form 1's to DC back in March.
