Just wanted to know if I can

1. Make an SBR from a rifle by cutting down the barrel?

2. Make an SBR from a pistol by adding a buttstock?

This is of course with Form 1 in hand and with the appropriate engraving.

I am specifically thinking about an HK (or clone) SBR.
Multiple companies sell carbines and they also sell pistols, just wanted to know if I can take either route.

Yes to both questions.

If going HK clone it's expensive to have the barrel replaced, so either buy a pistol with the barrel you want or a rifle with the dummy silencer mounted and pinned to a short barrel.

Or just order a short barreled rifle from the manuf. of the clone.
