I'd like to try small game hunting with one, as in squirrel etc. Seems like it ought to work well, but have never seen one. Wonder what the chances of having a custom barrel made in Cal .22 for a traditional muzzleloader would be... Cal .36 seems big for squirrel and rabbit. |

I'm no expert, but .32 is the preferred cal. for small game. A tradeoff, bec. BP doesn't have as much energy as smokeless? Sure, but a lot of the PHLs around here don't allow anything but archery, BP and shotguns. No centerfire, no rimfire. Who makes a good muzzleloader in .32? CVA doesn't, I was just there. |

You can pick up a .32 from Pedersoli through Dixie Gun Works. There are some here: http://www.dixiegunworks.com/default.php?cPath=22_92_186_191&sort=2a&&page=2 |

I have a .36 Pedersoli Frontier. I like it! Have a .32 CVA but haven't shot it yet. Have you used it on small game? How is accuracy? thnx! ETA what model is the CVA? didn't see any .32's in their catalog. Is it a discontinued model? ETA looks like it is, but traditions still makes one. I will explore that. Have you used the .36 on small game? |

Have you used the .36 on small game? The CVA is identical to the Traditions Crocket .32 I just haven't gotten it out yet, Its a caplock and I prefer my flinters. The Perersoli is awesome! Very good accuracy, I like busting squirrels with it. |

I just read where the old timers would take their .58 cal long rifles and shoot the tree next to the squirrel. The bark explodes and kills the squirrel. There is an episode of the Beverly hillbillys where they talk about this technique, it sounded intriguing to me. I just figured it was some bs made up for the show. |

I would think 32 would be close enough.
I would also think there are tons of used single shot or bolt action 22 that could be converted. 22 cap and ball pistol I also kind of wonder how well a 22 with a plastic sabot would work. Maybe somebody with a 3D printer could make some to try out. |
