I have an older Pietta Remington 1858 and the cocking effort is noticeably a lot heavier than a Colt revolver.  Are there any spring kits to help?  Thanks.

My Petta 58 is the same way.  I have thought about working the spring over like an hour glass to get easier cocking under .thumb.

I don't know of any "Kits" like you can get for say a 1911

My Dad is one heck of a good BP pistolsmith, and he just tears down new pistols and cleans up the working ends of the springs and gets some amazing trigger pulls and such

I was able to get a Pietta spring repair kit from Cabelas online....around 25 bucks iirc

My 1858 Remington Navy has a much heavier pull than my Colt Navy 1851. I tried smoothing the parts but did not notice a measurable difference. Check out Dixie for parts - you will have to do your own work.

Shoot em.

I've got 3, and in time they seem to break in. all 3 have been used over 20 years for reenacting... so you may not be willing to put that much into breaking them in.
