Old hand at black powder but new at using pyrodex and picked up a new unopened pound of it dirt cheap
What do y'all recommend the min and max load using pyrodex p in a pietta 1860 colt .44 steel frame

Same as BP, it is designed to measure the same by volume.  It does cause corrosion.  Clean with the same procedures.

First things first - what load are you using now and which ball ? I would throttle back a bit and shoot for the accuracy sweet spot. It might be different with the pyrodex than the bp.

Why not go to the Hodgdon website and see what the manufacturer recommends?
I mean, they make the stuff and have the scientific instruments to measure pressure.

Go here, check the box and click on "Get muzzleloading data".  The cap and ball data is at the bottom.
