I have an M44 that seems to possibly have something going on with the interrupter-ejector.  Starting with the bolt closed and four rounds in the magazine, it is possible for the top round to jump completely clear of the gun when the bolt is cycled to the rear.  This only happens when the bolt is brought back hard.  If I cycle it with reasonable force it works perfectly.  One thing I noticed about this gun is that it is really easy to load it with a good stripper clip.  Other Mosins require a bit more force to use a stripper clip and do not have the issue of live rounds jumping out.

Just wondering what I should do to fix this.

Just get a new interrupter and spring, and try it out.  Parts should be easy to find.

Make sure the interrupter isn't binding in the receiver or touching the stock. I had one doing this and there were wood shards in the interrupter channel preventing it from moving freely.

Sounds like the ejecter/intrupter is being slow to return. Most likely still caked full of cosmoline as it is nearly imposible to get clean short of removeing the ejector/intrupter from the reciver. I would pull it apart remove the ejector/intrupter and clean it first, then go from there.

I replaced the ejector/interruptor and now it works perfectly.  Thanks.

I don't think it was a cosmoline issue, just a weak spring.
