Picked up a Chinese 53 today off the interest.  I only have ARs,  shotguns, hunting fudd rifles,  etc.  Essentially newer guns.

That being said I've always kinda been curious.  As well,  those things have been put through it all,  and still seem to be ticking.

Before going forward,  understand I am not looking for a restore. Rather, I was looking for something inexpensive that I could use as my classroom and intro to that type of gun.

I bought a gun that looks like it was dragged behind a bus in a gravel road.  Stock is broken in places and dry as a bone. The action is in good shape and cycles well.  Bolt is good and cosmoline in the bolt is dried up.

I've disassembled everything down to the firing pin,  and plan to spend the next week with my dremel and some polishing cream to clean it up.  Also ordering a new stock from Boyds.

Big surprise was a bright,  shiny,  crisp bore.  Can't wait to get it clean, in a stock,  and against my shoulder!

The big surprise if the day was a bright clean,
