Anyone know where to find 7.62x45 ammo?  I ask because Cabelas has a VZ-52 on the used rack I was drooling over.  Only thing stopping me is an ammo source.

You can probably find some in your dreams

I havent seen any in ages. Last I saw was some rusty ammo on gunbroker selling for an absurd amount.

It's extinct.

You might be able to rangle up dies somewhere, and make cases from another round, but as far as buying it forget it.

It's around but you really have to keep an eye out. I find it a box here a box there at gunshows and shops. Don't pay too much $4-5 per box. Brass case early 50's  bxn and aym has a lot of duds, the 60's steel case is usually good to go.

Best you will do is probibly 50 cents per round.  Gotta buy pretty good quantitys though.  Try buyin only a box or two of 15 any you will probibly be payin $1 a round.

I walked away from 3 VZ52's for $400 (2 original if fair condition and 1 covered in bedliner) because ammo was unobtainium.  Neat guns otherwise.  I vaguely remember reading about someone re barreling one for 7.62x39 but I don't think they had to much success and it cost not an insignificant amount.

I reload my own.    Formed from 6.5x54 Mannlicher Schoenauer cases.  7.62x39 load data works.

this right here, 6.5x52 cases work too, but are that much harder to find

I just use 7.62x39 dies (not right I know, but what i have) and I just make sure to set them right.

Needless to say this old rifle does not get shot nearly as much as it deserves, my VZ52/57 sees alot more use

It can be found, but no one's making any more.

Also check the rifle to see if it's one of the later ones that were chambered in x39.

It's been a couple years, but On Target gun store in Kalamazoo (Oshtemo), MI had a bunch of surplus. It's probably still sitting there. I went to school for five years nearby, and I never saw that ammo move.
