1945 Hex Receiver, Izhevsk
Laminated stock Force matched: bolt, butplate, trigger group/mag More collectable than any of the others, besides being a hex? |

Its uncommon but not rare. When weapons came back into the depots and arsenals for repair they used whatever parts they had laying around to fix/refurbish the weapon for return to active duty. A hex M44 is unusual and will confuse many new to the game. Its not worth any extra, but Id give $275 for a hex M44 if the regular '44-50s dates were selling for $259 simply because I don't have one(hex M44, I have two round M44s). Its kinda unique, you're not gonna see them at every show but there are some out there. M38s can be found the same way. What arsenal on the receiver? Is it the same? Refurb marked on metal and stock? Mixed parts from different arsenals or mostly the same? What hurts it is its not even close to matching. A matching stamped example is worth money, EP'd or lineout forced is not, common indication of post war refurb. Pics please.
ETA: Forgot to add - Cool piece even if it doesn't really have any additional value. Shoot it and enjoy. |

she's in pretty rough shape at the moment. pitting on the: butt plate, stock end cap, barrel band springs are broken, the rear site is so bad it won't move, pitting on the undeside of the receiver where it had contact with the stock. there was little to no cosmoline in it. i bought a 6 pack form classic firearms and this was one of them.
it's definately a post war refurb from what i can see. the barrel is new i'd say. it says in english: made in russia 7.62x54 and some other stuff i can't remember at the moment. i'm going to try to strip it down and restore it the best i can. it's definately a cool piece that will find it's way into my collection when it's all said and done. i just hope i can find replacement parts that it needs. |
