Looks like an M91 Carcano. Can't say for sure if its been a cut down rifle, a carbine, or if the barrel is untouched and just sporterized. Definitely a Carcano though. Should be chambered in 6.5 Carcano, but I would slug the bore to be certain.

The rifle is designed to use an enbloc clip. When the last round is chambered the clip falls out the hole. Or so I'm told

It should look like this with ammo included, clip falls out the bottom when the last round is chambered.

I would have the bore checked, I owned one that had been reamed for 6.5x54 mannlicher shoennauer (sp?) I guess it was an easier caliber to get than the carcano, not for me though, bloody pricey for either up here

Sporterized 1891 Carcano. Terni was the Italian arsenal where it was made. Not particularly rare. I have one, got it from Sarco eons ago. The enbloc clips are hard to find. Ammo is out there. 6.5 x 52.

Check out Libertytreecollectors.com for clips, Privi makes the ammo that I use an I can usually find it at my area gun shows with no problems.

I actually just bought 5 of the clips on ebay for $20 plus shipping. And one my LGS had 6.5x52 on the shelf, which was a shocker
