First Mauser > Curios & Relics

I picked up my first Mauser last night. A vz. 24:

The guy I bought if from said it is 1944 manufacture but Wikipedia says they stopped making these in 1942? Bore is sharp and bright. The guy wanted to sporterize it but changed his mind.

That has to be the best looking VZ 24 I have ever saw, most are beat to hell and back.

The Vz.24 is my favorite Mauser and I agree; that one looks VERY nice!

Do my eyes deceive me, or does it have a K98 bolt?

In any case, you got a great "first" Mauser.

I don't know how to tell the difference, but the first four digits of the serial number are stamped onto he bolt handle, right on top. Also, I could not find any import marks. I have not stopped it down yet, though. Maybe there is something under the wood?

I would think that, if it were import marked, it would be on the receiver or near the muzzle. On the bolt, it looks like the handle is turned down. Assuming this is an 8mm Vz., I believe it should have a straight bolt. Any other markings on the bolt? Any German WaA stamps on either the rifle or bolt?

Looks like it does.

Probably where the Vz.24 bolt in my RC K98 came from...
