Springfeild 1873 trapdoor > Curios & Relics

I came across a Springfield 1873 trapdoor rifle I was @ an estate sale here in McDonough and picked it up for 100 bucks it is in good shape for a rifle of it's age. I dont know much about it yet can anybody put a value on it ?

For 100 bucks, I'm sure you did alright. But we may need some pics and more info to properly price a rifle.

If the stock, lock and hardware is not broken you did fine. Some rust is acceptable, not a problem. Even if the barrel is rusted and pitted its worth having for a wall hanger. Never pass something like this up.

I have an 1873 trap door. If its all original its worth over $1000. Just make sure you get the right bullets for it the old style powder loads or else it will produce to much pressure in the chamber and cause a serious malfunction. Its a great and fun rifle to shoot.

Don't worry, Remington/Winchester/Black Hills all load their 45-70 to 1873 standards.
