I just got my Dads ol 30-06 from my brother.  it has been a long time since i have seen or held this rifle. and i never realized what it was!

i dont know much about them.... yet. i would be interested in hearing everything you guys got!

i ran the serial number and it seems this one was made in 1941...  3157398
and, to me, it looks like the barrel and stock have been replaced.... pretty sure.

here are some pics to show what i have to work with!

You have a very nice sporterized M1903. Enjoy it for what it is; it is not in any way a candidate for restoration. It's too far gone.

Most Remington '03s were made in 1942, yours was (the website that indicates '41 is in error).

I agree.  Your rifle has not only been rebarreled, but it has been drilled and tapped, the bolt bent, sight collar removed, and stock and metal lost to the dustbin of time.

Enjoy it for what it is.  It would be cost prohibitive to turn your rifle back into an "issue" rifle or fascimile there of.

It was made in the middle of WWII.  I htink you can wager that it made its way into the hands of a GI pretty readily.
