You have a very nice sporterized M1903. Enjoy it for what it is; it is not in any way a candidate for restoration. It's too far gone. Most Remington '03s were made in 1942, yours was (the website that indicates '41 is in error). I agree. Your rifle has not only been rebarreled, but it has been drilled and tapped, the bolt bent, sight collar removed, and stock and metal lost to the dustbin of time. Enjoy it for what it is. It would be cost prohibitive to turn your rifle back into an "issue" rifle or fascimile there of. http://images25.fotki.com/v901/photos/2/28682/5057533/IMG_5664-vi.jpg haha oh is that all? that just crushed me a little bit. but i kind of expected that was coming |

well thanks for the replys!! is there any way of knowing if this rifle was orig. issued to a service member or if it came off a store shelf? edit It was made in the middle of WWII. I htink you can wager that it made its way into the hands of a GI pretty readily. |
