My sister called me and said she had some old guns that she wanted to know more about. I went over and looked them over and snapped some photos.

A Norinco SKS sans bayonet.

Any ideas on how much the lever gun is worth? I've found values everywhere from $250 to $1600. It's a Winchester 1894 chambered in .32 Winchester Special.

I'll give you $300 for that $250 rifle.

BTW, that's no $250 rifle.

There are too many varibles associated with collecting old Winchester 94s. And I sure don't keep up on any of it.

But the finish looks good in the first pic. (got dialup and didn't wait for the others to load) Plus it's a rifle length barrel (24"?) and a half length magazine. I believe these bring more than full length mags. And a curved buttplate with I'll assume a period Lyman peep sight. I think the flat "shotgun" buttplate came about in the '20s or maybe '30s so this should predate that. I have no idea what the value is but I'm going to be surprised if it isn't in the middle to higher ranges.

After loading all the pictures I see the finish is more worn then I first thought. Still it is worn rather evenly with a nice patina. And then there's the damage to the barrel by the front sight. ugh... Still if I were walking thru a gunshow and saw this lying on a table I would expect the price tag to read somewhere in the $850 - $1000 range. But like I said, with the vagarities of these guns it could be worth more, or maybe even less but I doubt too much less. Again, this is no $250 gun. But I"ll still give you $300 for it.

Ive got the same 22 you have in the first pic. Mines in a little worse shape.

Do a google on Winchester 1894 serial numbers. There is a site that can tell you when it was made. I found my 32-40 with a serial number of 16XX was a first year of production made in 1894
