I stop in to a off the road antique shop with my wife and while looking around i came across this rifle. The owner told me it was a us model 1870 50/70, it had no sn just us spingfield on it.It also had on the stock what look like esa marked on it the gun was about in 70% over all. Any way they where asking 450$ for it ,does this sound about right for this kind  of model rifle, like a said i have never seen one of these thank-you for any info.

Some do have ESA cartouche markings..... depending on how original it is, thats not a bad price.

That actually sounds kinda low. What's wrong with it? I'm guessing it's pretty brown.

If you google "1870 trapdoor springfield" you will get some reference pictures and additional info.

It looked to be in great shape for the year of the rifle, rifling grooves looked not to bad.He siad he bought it from a estate sale, along with a russ 1954 sks that he would sale for a 150$.I have three sks but this modle 1870 just looks really nice, can you still buy ammo for these. After checking the web sight which look's just like the rifle i looked at get's me  thinking why the price is so low.
