My elderly neighbor has an Enfield P14 rifle that her now deceased husband left her and she would like to get an idea of how much it is worth.
It is Remington made (RE in an oval with a *) and the metal and bluing is in 95% condition with very small areas of surface rust that would rub right off.
The receiver, bolt and rear site's serial numbers match.
The stock appears to be an Eddystone and has one small arsenal repair.
Like most of these the front volley site is missing but the disk is still there
The safety appears to be an Eddystone as well.
The bore looks really nice and the action locks up tight like it should.

There are no import marks on it anywhere.

Thanks in advance!

$550-600

just don't be a dick and offer her $200 for it....there are way to many people out there who would do that to her, especially if she has no idea about the value

I wouldn't do that. That is why I am asking you guys.
She had a dealer offer her 250.00 for it and she wanted to see if it was worth more.

That dealer needs a swift kick in the dick

If she's looking to sell it and you don't want it put it on the EE for her for $550, it will get purchased by someone

$550 is kind of high for a P-14 IMHO. They seem to run about $100 less than sister Model 1917 Enfields. $450 would be more in line for a top end price.
Just my humble opinion.

.303 surplus is pretty much gone.

I agree $450-500 if as described in original mil trim.  Deceant P14's are very hard to find, most floating around are beaters imported from India, Greece and misc Middle East countries. Many have fallen victim to Bubba and his love affair with Tung Oil and cold blue....

So there are no issues with the mismatched stock and safety?

She wants to sell it but I told her her I was pretty sure it was worth quite a bit more than what she was offered.

I talked to her a few minutes ago and she said the dealer was actually an antique dealer and he didn't even know how to remove the bolt.
He told her there were so many of these around that they were not worth anything.

If I was there locally I would offer her $400 cash for it. The P14 is one of the Enfields that I am still trying to find a quality example of for my collection.

No, if both Volley sight arms are removed it has gone thru an Ordnance facility ( Wheedon (sp?) generally ) and either been totally rebuilt and updated or just updated to newest Mk* configuration with removal of volley sights. Like No1 MkIII's it is VERY hard to find original WW1 configuration P14's
