Not sure if these are C&R or not, but I just passed-up one at a gunshow today for $475. Looked in great condition. That was the asking price, might have gone down a little.  I saw a couple of others that were priced in the mid $500s.  Should I have bought it?  It was calling to me, but I know very little about these, so I tuned it out.  Seemed like a decent price for a semi-auto rifle, these days anyway.

Did I miss out on a deal? Should I go back tomorrow and see if it's still there?

I don't know what the current prices are, but I paid $325.00 about 5 years ago. It came with a slip on tube night-site, 4 mags, cleaning kit, bayo/scabbard, and a slip on recoil (grenade launching?) pad. It was also in the original 7.5 chambering. I believe some were rechambered by century arms to 7.62 nato.
In my neck of the woods $475 would probably be a fair price now.

That would be a good deal right now on the 7.5 rifle.  The ones converted to 7.62x51 NATO are a mixed bag.  Some were poorly converted.  I have one of the poorly converted ones.  It extracts Pakistani ammo okay, but anything else will fail to extract after about 4 rounds.   There are fixes that I have not attempted yet and at one time a gunsmith who would fix the problems, but I have lost his contact info.  I will say this, it is an accurate rifle if you can send a round downrange.
I have heard nothing but good things about the unconverted ones.  Ammo is fairly easy to find as there are a number of manufacturers of it at about 70 cents per round.

The original MAS Mle. 49/56 rifles are very nice, and the price you mention is very fair for one in excellent condition.

So, you blew it...

AIM has current manufacture Prvi Partizan 7.5x54mm MAS ammo (which is boxer primed, non-corrosive, and loaded especially for the 49/56) for about $110/10 boxes, or around $12/box if you buy single boxes.

This is excellent ammo, and cheaper than most US calibers to boot these days...

I don't know if the one(s) I saw were 7.5 or 7.62.  I didn't even know about that piece of info.  I wish I would have known yesterday what I know today!  If it had been in original chambering, I would buy it today.  Unfortunately . . . .  Well, there's always next time.

Email me at [email protected] if you are interested in buying one. I've got one I'm thinking about putting on gunbroker

There were two at the latest KC show, with the 7.5 one being 475 and the 7.62 being 400.

Probably should have gone home with the orginal one.

Just got one in 7.5 for $295.  Worn finish, two mags, all matching, no accessories.  I'm pleased.  About one in four of the .308 conversions have been problematic.

They are very good, very well made semi auto rifles.
