My C&R license expires Dec 1st 2008. I have sent for a renewal but I doubt I'll have it before the license expires. My question is if I order a Garand from CMP it probably won't ship until after Dec. 1. So will I have to wait until my new license comes in the mail?

Good question. May want to call ATF on that one for sure. My guess would be no as the C&R license status is not important at the time of sale. Anyone can buy the rifle. A C&R license comes into play when you want it shipped to you. However, CMP can ship to non license holders, so are you just using the C&R so you dont need the firearm activity/marksmanship requirement? If so the license is a part of the sale requirments not shipping. So it should be fine. CMP may be able to answer that too.

CMP does a background check on everyone so if your C&R expires it's not a problem.

Thanks for the replies. Yes C&R is for Markmanship qualification. I am a member of CMP affiliated gun club plus Granad Collectors Association but I didn't have the markmanship requirement met

I think if you qualify through the CMP it doesnt matter if you have a C&R or not.

I would call CMP and ask them to be safe.
