I am thinking of shooting a K31 in local 200yd precision rifle matches and would really appreciate any range reports anyone would be willing to share. Mostly to shoot something a bit different than the standard bolt guns everyone else uses. I have read that they can be very accurate, but old eyes and iron sights leave a lot to be desired for determining the rifle's capability so a clamp-on mount and scope are going to be added. Thanks for your time. OFG |
Well saId my brotha |
Nice groups. I have two K31's that I've yet to take out. One I am going to put the Rock Solid mount on (it already had some of the furniture removed when I picked it up). ![]() |

Thanks John R. for the irons vs scope report - exactly what I was looking for. I have one K31 and 1k rounds of GP11 so I'll be ready to go as soon as I get the mount & scope. Then I'll work on getting a bipod mounted as our matches are shot prone with bipods & rear bags. Anyone used the clamp-on mount that puts the scope over the bore as opposed to off to the right? BTW, where did you get your mount? Steel or aluminum? Thanks, OFG |
You don't have any K31s. Those are 96/11's, if I'm not mistaken. |
Or M1911s. They have a longer action, I don't know if the clamp on mounts will work for those. |
| About 3 yrs ago I shot a Garand match at my local club, and they had a Bolt gun match afterward open to all WWII bolt guns. The rules are simple, stock rifles, no scopes, open sights only, 200yds offhand, prone, and a rapid fire prone and offhand.Ammo could be either your own loads or surplus. Using Swiss surplus 7.5 ammo I came in 3rd, I beat out over 30 other shooters who were using either a Mauser, or a '03 or a '03A3....That convinced me, these are very accurate rifles, |
O man, if you where the only one with a K-31 and u placed 3rd, they all must have been ooo'ing and awe'ing the K-31 eh? |

They shoot pretty well, while I prefer Swedes, it's a fair toss up.
PS- http://clubs.odcmp.com/cgi-bin/report_eventAward.cgi?matchID=3426&eventID=14&awardID=1 2008 National Trophy Rifle Matches & SAFS Vintage Military Rifle Match Results It's a Swede, Swiss, 1917 contest where the shooter matters far more than the gun. |
